The SAT (Mexican Tax Administration Service) has not explained whether it suffered an attack or a system failure, while it attempts to restore e-signatures.

The Tax Administration Service has once again registered massive failures in recent days, as they revoked the e.Signature of thousands of companies and taxpayers, even though the certificate was still valid.

The SAT again reported the problem, however, it did not clearly explain whether it was a hack or a simple failure in its computer systems.
Tax specialists explain that if this failure is due to technical problems, it does not represent a major risk. What would be worrying is if this error were the result of a hack, since this decentralized body of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit concentrates a lot of sensitive taxpayer information.
This is the first time that the SAT has suffered this type of failure that undermines the efficiency of the electronic signature.
The Agency has all the privileged information of the taxpayers, so it will be important for the tax authority to report what happened transparently.
What effects can occur after the revocation of certificates?
If the SAT does not fix the problem in the following days, it could seriously complicate the filing of tax returns and invoicing for taxpayers, so taxpayers are advised to take precautions.
What has the SAT said?
The SAT reported that electronic signatures related to Foreign Trade are functioning normally.
It is expected that the rest of the electronic signatures will be restored during the day and the affected taxpayers will not need to carry out any additional procedures.
This situation is being addressed with the priority it deserves; the current uncertainty of the specialists lies in the fact that the SAT has only said that it was a failure, however, it does not explain what happened.
